Travel Tips

You will not be charged for ATM withdrawals as per the fees and limits table.

However, overseas ATM providers will often charge you a withdrawal fee, please check on the ATM screen before you complete any transactions to see if you will be charged such a fee and if so, what the charge will be.

It's best to be prepared - save the Card Services phone number for the country (or countries) you are traveling to and keep it with you. This makes it easier to phone Card Services to check your balance or for other assistance.

Please note, calls from cell phones are not free of charge, and hotels may also charge for calls to free phone numbers.

RESTRICTIONS

There are a number of countries where Multi-currency Cash Passport Prepaid MasterCard cannot be used. If you attempt to withdraw cash or use your Card at merchants in any of these countries, your request will be declined and the reason given as 'Decline, prohibited country'.

Things you should do with your Card:

  • Make purchases for yourself, friends and family – in shops and online!
  • Pay for meals and activities
  • Pay in local Currency
  • Withdraw cash from ATMs

It is important to note that when you are traveling, you may get the choice of paying in a different currency than the local currency. By choosing to pay in the local currency, you may avoid an extra foreign exchange conversion. Remember that if you do not have enough funds to pay for a purchase in the relevant Currency on your Card, the rest will be taken from another Currency on your Card and you will pay a Foreign Exchange Fee.

Please see the Fees and Limits table to find out more.

Things you should not do with your Card:

  • Don’t give your card number to anyone – we will never call you to ask for your card number!
  • Do not share your PIN (it can’t be changed)
  • Don’t use your Card to reserve a rental car, hotel room or on cruises

When you use your Card as a deposit with car rental companies, hotels or cruise lines, they may require authorization of an amount larger than the transaction as a guarantee of payment. Although you will only be charged for the actual and final amount of the transaction, any additional amount that is included in the initial authorization will be unavailable to you until the final transaction settles. Therefore, we do not recommend transactions that could create larger authorizations in which case the funds could be unavailable to you for a period of time.
