Multi-currency Cash Passport
Cash Passport™ is How Money Should Travel.
It's the clever alternative to pockets full of cash, traveller cheques or your debit card when you're away. Use your Cash Passport like you would a credit or debit card, except with your own prepaid funds, in-store, online or to withdraw money from cash machines while away*.
* The Card may only be used outside the Common Monetary Area (being South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia). The Card may be used for online purchases provided that the website used is not registered in the Common Monetary Area. In addition, there may be some other countries or geographical regions where usage of the Card is prohibited. Please see ‘Where can I use the Cash Passport?' to verify the list of countries and regions with restrictions.
Load up to 4 currencies on a single card.
Four currencies, one Card
Travel with confidence
Load up to 4 different currencies on your Multi-currency Cash Passport.
Whether you are travelling overseas or shopping online, pay in foreign currencies to avoid hidden exchange cost.
Available currencies include: US Dollars (USD), Great British Pounds (GBP), Euros (EUR) and Australian Dollars (AUD).
Lock in exchange rates
Know exactly how much you have to spend
Get a fixed exchange rate each time you load your Card or move money between currencies.
Locking in the value on the day of load (or reload) could help you to avoid exchange rate fluctuations, and will make it easier to focus on enjoying your holiday or grabbing a bargain online from overseas retailers.
Your Multi-currency Cash Passport is easily reloadable, all loads/reloads are subject to the limits set out in the Fees and Limits in the terms and conditions.
It's quick and easy to top up your Card balance##.
Just return to any participating branch of the location where you bought your Cash Passport (in South Africa), and they can reload it for you. You will be asked to present your Multi-currency Cash Passport, a form of payment, proof of residence, your travel documents and your valid passport.
Please note that it is an exchange control requirement that all unused foreign exchange is converted into Rand within 30 days of returning to South Africa. We recommend that you wait until 10 days after your last transaction before converting the currency on your Cash Passport back to Rand, to ensure that all your transactions have been processed, and so avoid overspending on your Card. You can withdraw the balance remaining on your Card at ATMs worldwide*, displaying the Mastercard® Acceptance Mark. Alternatively, you can take your Card back to the branch where you bought it and they’ll refund the balance.
## Until the Card expires and subject to Exchange Control Regulations and reload limits (see the Fees and Limits section).
